Barbados Tourism Statistic Reference Guide (updated with Quarter One 2024)

Tourist arrivals for March 2024 have been published by the Barbados Statistical Service and we round out the first quarter of the year with record monthly totals in all three months and setting a record for first-quarter arrivals.  This is a fantastic achievement and with events like the ICCT20 World Cup providing an additional draw, Barbados is well-placed to challenge the record for arrivals set in 2019. The total arrivals in the first quarter of 2024 are 228,828. This is an 8.8% increase on the previous record set in 2019 of 210,326

We continue to see the UK reasserting itself as the dominant market post-pandemic. UK arrivals represent 43% of the arrivals in Q1 2024 while the US accounted for 22%. In comparison in Q1 2019 the US market share was at 27% or 11% behind the UK and this gap had narrowed even further to just 3% for the whole of 2019. The 2024 market share number shows a 20% difference between these two markets. In absolute terms, UK arrivals have increased by 16,858 while the US has declined by 6,899.

As mentioned above this is a great start to the year and put Barbados in a solid position to exceed pre-pandemic arrivals.
