Barbados Tourism Statistic Reference Guide (update with revised 2022 – Q1 2023 arrivals)
Tourism is not only a key contributor to the Barbados economy but it fuels many aspects of the real estate market on the island. From industry workers seeking to own a piece of the rock, to foreign buyers seeking holiday homes, to expatriates looking for rental properties and of course holidaymakers renting a beachfront villa. The Terra Group services all of these sectors and as such keeping informed allows giving the best advice possible to all of our clients. The resource below will be regularly updated as the Barbados Statistical Service (BSS) provides updated information.
Special note from the BSS regarding 2022 – Q1 2023 arrival data:
After the physical Embarkation/Disembarkation card was eliminated and the electronic sources (Kiosk and Online ED card) became the principal methods of data collection of visitor arrivals; some challenges arose leading to the underestimation of the monthly long-stay tourist arrival statistics. To this end, it was determined that there was a need for a revision of the processed numbers for the twelve (12) months of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023.
Consequently, the Barbados Statistical Service has revised its visitor arrival numbers for the aforementioned periods using the new reconciliation process agreed upon by some of the key stakeholders in the tourism sector.
