🌿 The Residences at Coverley: Where Nature, Wellness & Community Meet
At The Residences at Coverley, life is designed to flow—between people, homes, and the green spaces that connect them. Just west of the well-known Villages at Coverley, this new 74-acre development is shaping up to be one of Barbados’ most thoughtfully planned communities.
And right at its heart? A two-kilometer Nature Trail that redefines what outdoor living in Barbados can be.
A Vision Rooted in Connection
When Imagine Developments began planning The Residences at Coverley, their goal wasn’t just to build houses—it was to create a community that lives in sync with its surroundings.
To bring that vision to life, they turned to Andre Kelshaw of Design Landscape Architects, who helped craft what’s now known as the “green link” running through the development.
“It’s about connecting people—not just to each other, but to nature and wellness,” Kelshaw explained.
With many Barbadians preferring to exercise early or late in the day, visibility and lighting were top priorities in the design. The trail features clear sight lines, strategically placed lighting, and tree canopies lifted high enough to create both safety and shade. The result is a space that’s cool, comfortable, and secure—no matter the time of day.
“We’ve kept the canopy dense for shade but elevated enough for visibility,” said Kelshaw. “It’s about balance—comfort without compromising safety.”
Sustainability Built In
Barbados’ water-scarce environment guided many of the design decisions. The trail helps slow surface runoff, allowing rainwater to recharge the aquifer naturally. Locally sourced materials were chosen wherever possible to reduce transport emissions, and the plant palette emphasizes native, low-maintenance species that thrive in our climate.
“We wanted a trail that lives with the land,” Kelshaw noted. “Nature leads the design, not the other way around.”
More Than a Home—A Way of Life
From its architectural design to its landscaping, The Residences at Coverley is about balance—between comfort and connection, privacy and togetherness, home and the outdoors.
“You’re not just buying a home,” said host Dominique Pepin during the podcast. “You’re buying into a lifestyle—one built around wellness, connection, and thoughtful design.”
Whether it’s a morning jog or a child’s laughter in the play spaces, the Nature Trail brings people together in a way that feels distinctly Barbadian.
